چکیده

Within an oligonucleotide duplex, excess electron transfer from a excited 5-(pyren-1-yl)uridine through an internal stacked phenanthrenyl pair to 5-bromouridine as an electron acceptor was observed.

A theoretical study on interactions between Berberine as an anticancer drug and DNA

In this study, we present the work on the physicochemical interaction between the anti-cancer alkaloidberberine (BRB) and DNA with the purpose of designing drugs that interact more with DNA. Molecularmodeling on the complex formed between berberine and DNA presented that this complex was undeniablyfully able of participating in the formation of a stable intercalation site. Besides, the molecula...

DNA electrochemistry through the base pairs not the sugar-phosphate backbone.

Using intercalated, covalently bound daunomycin as a redox probe, ground state charge transport in DNA films with a perturbation in base pair stacking was examined in comparison with breaks in the sugar-phosphate backbone. While the introduction of one or even two nicks in the sugar-phosphate backbone yields no detectable effect on electron transfer, a CA mismatch significantly attenuates the e...

Effect of GC base pairs on charge transfer through DNA hairpins: the importance of electrostatic interactions.

DNA hairpins in which an electron donor and an electron acceptor are attached to the ends are excellent model systems for the study of charge transfer in weakly coupled pi-stacked systems. In this communication we report on a computational study of the effect of the base pair sequence in these DNA hairpins on the kinetics of charge transfer. We show that the rate of charge transfer strongly dep...

Proton Transfer Induced SOMO-to-HOMO Level Switching in One-Electron Oxidized A-T and G-C Base Pairs: A Density Functional Theory Study

In the present study, we show that for one-electron oxidized A-T or G-C base pairs the singly occupied molecular orbital (SOMO) is located on A or G and is lower in energy than the doubly occupied highest-occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) localized to the pyrimidines, T or C. This directs second ionizations to the pyrimidine bases resulting in triplet state diradical dications, (A(•+)-T(•+)) an...

Preparation of Reactive and Thermal Stable Hyperbranched Graft Copolymers/ Clay Nanocomposite via ‘Living’ Free Radical Polymerization

Exfoliated poly (Chloromethyl styrene-co-styrene)-g-polyacrylonitryle/organo- modified montmorillonite [P(CMSt-co-St)-g-PAN/O-MMT] nanocomposite was synthesized through solution intercalation method by using atom transfer and nitroxide mediated radical polymerization. At first, poly (chloromethyl styrene-costyrene) copolymer was synthesized by nitroxide - mediated “living” free radical polyme...
